According to posts amplified by the JLR Investigates account on X, several locals have made it clear that journalists are no longer welcome to treat their cul-de-sac as a backdrop.

Constant Media Crews Presence Puts Neighbours On The Defensive

Pima County officials say an experiment with one-way traffic outside Guthrie's house did not deliver the relief residents had hoped for, so the no-parking zone is being widened. The new restrictions, due to take effect on Thursday, still allow journalists and streamers into the area, but require them to park elsewhere and be dropped off, with violators facing a $250 (£187) fine.​

In practice, it is a stern warning delivered in municipal signage, not words. Some residents have reportedly set out traffic cones and posted signs on their own properties to keep people off, while authorities point to tents, generators and satellite trucks as sources of congestion and safety concerns.

Holly Vatter, who lives on a street perpendicular to the one Guthrie's house sits on, interviewed by US media, described the shift from quiet to constant as jarring and intensely personal. She said she used to see fewer than a handful of cars travel down her road in a day, but they now 'constantly' pass through or park on her street.

Vatter said she has learned to keep her blinds down and avoids opening her screen door in the morning and afternoon to block out the soundtrack of television live shots. She also said she no longer wants to sit in her backyard because drones are flying overhead, and that it has been stressful winding through traffic while recovering from surgery.

Her home business has taken a hit too, she said, because 'Nobody wants to, like, drive through a media circus to come to an appointment'.​

Journalists and online streamers are not the only ones making their way into the neighbourhood. Supporters of the Guthrie family have also gathered outside the home, leaving flowers, yellow ribbons, crosses and written prayers.

As of 1 March, authorities had not named any suspects or confirmed any definitive lead in the disappearance of Guthrie. Investigators are still pinning hopes on a patchwork of surveillance footage.

Authorities say a neighbour's Ring camera captured multiple vehicles moving through the area on the night Guthrie was last seen, providing what they cautiously describe as 'new leads to explore'. It has not been disclosed how many vehicles appeared, how long they lingered or whether licence plates are visible.

Officers from the Pima County Sheriff's Department and agents from the FBI are reportedly combing through that material alongside other recordings, looking for patterns that might separate routine traffic from something more sinister.

So far, though, they have stopped well short of calling the footage a breakthrough. Officials have not confirmed that the clips show Guthrie, her car or any individual of interest.
