WWE fans got to witness some exciting matches during Backlash 2016 pay-per-view (PPV) aired live from the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia on Sunday (11 September). AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose clashed for the World Championship in the main match card, while in the finals of the SmackDown Tag Team Championship Slater and Rhyno squared off against The Usos.
The event also saw the first-ever SmackDown women's champion crowned from among six wrestlers in the Six-Pack Elimination Challenge. Also, The Miz defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler, while Bray Wyatt battled with Kane in a no holds barred match.

AJ Styles vs Dean Ambrose (WWE World Championship)
AJ Styles dethroned Dean Ambrose to become the WWE Champion. Styles hit a kick to the groin when the referee was distracted and then carried out the Styles Clash for the win.
Six-Pack Challenge (SmackDown Women's Championship)
Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Natalya and Carmella squared off for the vacant women's title. In the end, Becky Lynch clinched the title after she defeated Carmella via submission.
Tag Team Championship
The Usos defeated The Hype Bros via submission to go head-to-head with Heath Slater and Rhyno in the finals of the Tag Team Championship. However, in the finals Heath Slater and Rhyno defeated Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso via pinfall to win the vacant title.
The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler (WWE Intercontinental Championship)
The Miz was able to retain his title after Maryse sprayed Ziggler in the face with pepper spray. The Miz took advantage of the situation and carried out the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.
Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt
The match never happened as Orton was not able to compete. The Eater of Worlds won the match via forfeit.
Bray Wyatt vs Kane (No holds barred match)
A match between Wyatt and Kane was announced after the fight between The Eater of Worlds and Orton got cancelled. Wyatt and Kane went at each other from the start with the two wrestlers using objects to immobilise each other. During the match the Viper appeared from nowhere and nailed an RKO on Wyatt, which allowed Kane to hit the chokeslam for the win.
