Taylor Swift showed off a shorter-looking curly bob in a photograph shared by Universal Music Group on Oct. 2, as the music company celebrated her latest UK chart success.

The image arrived as 'Patient Zero' debuted at No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart and The Life of a Showgirl returned to the top of the Official Albums Chart following the release of its expanded The Encore edition. The Official Charts Company said the result gave Swift her fifth UK chart double.

It also marked another milestone for the singer. 'Patient Zero' became Swift's eighth UK No. 1 single and her third chart-topper of 2026, after 'Opalite' and the Toy Story 5 track 'I Knew It, I Knew You.' Official Charts said she is the only artist to have achieved three UK No. 1 singles so far this year.

The chart celebration also offered a fresh look at Swift's increasingly shorter hairstyle. In the UMG photograph, her dark blonde hair appears to sit around her chin and is styled in loose curls, creating a noticeably different silhouette from the longer looks she wore earlier in the year.

Taylor Swift's Short Hair Revives a Familiar Texture

Swift had already been photographed with a shorter style in August, when she attended the wedding of recording engineers Oli Jacobs and Laura Sisk. Her hair then fell just past her shoulders and was styled with a side-swept fringe.

The wedding was held at Real World Studios, the recording complex founded by Peter Gabriel in Box, Wiltshire. Swift attended alongside other music industry guests, while the shorter cut marked a clear change from the longer hair she had previously worn.

The Oct. 2 photograph makes the style appear shorter again, although the image alone does not establish whether Swift had another haircut or whether the difference was created through curling and styling. The loose texture nevertheless recalls a look closely associated with the early years of her career.

Swift has previously discussed the way her natural hair texture changed as she grew older. In a 2019 first-person essay for Elle, she wrote that she had been born with 'the curliest hair' but that it had become straight.

She joked that the change happened just as she had learned to appreciate her curls, asking readers to 'pray for their safe return.' The new photograph echoes that earlier look, but Swift has not said that her natural curls have returned or that the Oct. 2 style reflects a permanent change.

Taylor Swift's Short Hair Accompanies UK Chart Double

The hairstyle appeared in a UMG post focused primarily on Swift's commercial performance in Britain. Official Charts confirmed that The Life of a Showgirl returned to No. 1 for a fifth non-consecutive week after the release of The Encore, while 'Patient Zero' entered the singles chart at the summit.

The result means Swift has now achieved five distinct UK chart doubles. Her previous album-and-single combinations came in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, according to Official Charts.

'Patient Zero' also gives The Life of a Showgirl three UK No. 1 singles, following 'The Fate of Ophelia' and 'Opalite.' The album has now contributed to another major chart week one year after its original release.

For the Oct. 2 image, the most supportable description is straightforward: Swift appears with a shorter, curled bob while UMG celebrates a verified UK chart milestone. There is no public statement from Swift saying the style is permanent, nor evidence that the curls represent a return of her natural childhood texture.

What the photograph does show is a visible evolution of the shoulder-length style seen in August, paired with a texture that has long been associated with Swift's early career.
