It has been three years since she released her award-winning, record breaking album 21, but it looks like the wait for new material from Adele is almost over.

The London-born singer has teased that she could soon be dropping a new album.

In a cryptic post on Twitter the mother-of-one, who recently turned 26, hinted to fans that her highly-anticipated record, may also be age-titled.

Within minutes fans took to social media to express their excitement after interpreting the message as confirmation that the Someone Like You singer had been working on new music.

Her post was retweeted 6800 times.

Speculation has been rife since Adele's publicist confirmed back in January that her third album will be released in 2014. And just weeks ago Ryan Tedder, who teamed up with the songstress on her tracks Rumour Has It and Turning Tables revealed that he had been enlisted once again on her new project.

The yet to be confirmed album will follow 2008's '19' and 2011's '21', which spurned global hits such as Rolling In The Deep and Chasing Pavements.

They were both named after the age the nine-time Grammy winner was when she penned them.
