A luxury watchmaker in Cannes was robbed on Wednesday (July 31), police said, days after a multi-million euro jewel heist at the Carlton hotel on the city's croisette.

Two armed robbers made off with watches from the boutique named 'Kronometry' but the value of the loot is still unknown.

On Sunday, a robber carrying an automatic pistol stole jewellery and watches worth 102 million euros from the luxury Carlton Hotel.

Police investigators are studying video surveillance footage in an effort to track down the thief.

Cannes residents said they were not surprised and that security needed to be tightened.

The heists come two months after two smaller jewellery robberies hit the annual Cannes film festival, where many of the world's top movie stars are lent gowns and gems to parade on the red carpets and at glamorous parties.
