Ilie Nastase is probably the most hated man in tennis at the moment after his racist comments about Serena Williams' unborn baby and his abuse of the British Fed Cup team members Johanna Konta and Anne Keothavong.

The Romanian former world number one has been suspended as the captain of the Romania's Fed Cup team after he was heard shouting at the umpire before calling Konta and Keothavong "f*****g b*****s."

Prior to his on-court tirade, the 1973 French Open winner was heard questioning the colour of Williams' baby during the pre-match press conference: "Let's see what colour it has. Chocolate with milk?" Nastase said. The comments were made in reference to the 23-time women's singles Grand Slam champions' engagement with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

The Romanian has come under heavy criticism after his comments with Williams also asking the tennis governing body the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to probe his remarks. Nastase however is unfazed by the criticism and retorted with a line that can be classified as more racist than his previous comments.

"Anything I say, I am the bad boy. Why write a news story like this? Just to have a scandal? There are many more important things going on," Nastase told Press Association, as quoted by USA Today.

"If I said she would have an ugly, black (baby), that would have been racist," the Romanian added referring to his earlier comments about Williams' unborn baby.

Romanian women's number one Simona Halep has made it clear that the Romanian Fed Cup team will not defend their suspended captain over his statements. The 2014 French Open finalist is expecting Nastase to be banned for his comments, but refrained from making a judgment leaving the decision to the authorities.

"I didn't like the way he talked and I cannot accept that. We cannot defend him in that direction," Halep said, as quoted by The Newspaper.
