Mesut Ozil
Mesut Ozil never spoke to Carlo Ancelotti before leaving Real Madrid for Arsenal, according to the manager.

Carlo Ancelotti has been left confused over Mesut Ozil's comments about Real Madrid after the Arsenal-bound midfielder claimed the manager had lost his trust.

Ozil was insistent in the last days of the transfer window that he would not be leaving Madrid and was completely committed to the Spanish giants for the remainder of his contract.

But on deadline day he signed a deal to make the move to Arsenal and has since accused his old side of having no respect or integrity. Ancelotti has hit back at such claims, insisting that the only time he knew of Ozil wanting to leave was when he found out the Germany international was negotiating with other clubs.

"He said that he felt no confidence from me. But he never came to talk to me", Ancelotti said, according to Voetbal International.

"Until the recent international matches he had been in two of the three starting line-ups for the matches. In the third he wasn't because I heard he was negotiating with other clubs."

Ozil's move from Madrid to Arsenal has brought on a very public sledging match between the player and his former club, with reports circulating that he was unprofessional and his father going so far as to threaten legal action over some of the claims.

But for Arsenal fans, the reasons for Ozil's exit come down to the fact that Arsene Wenger was able to garner his attention and get him on board to help a side that was lacking in genuine world class talent.

The midfielder's arrival at the Emirates turned the mood at the club from angry and frustrated to full of hope for the future. And with a positive start to the season underway the north London club are hoping to back that up with a top-class Champions League performance against Marseille.
