Overview
Villa have been inconsistent at home with only two wins from seven games this season. They put in a dismal performance against a struggling Fulham side to lose 2-0 last weekend. But they did beat Manchester City here and manager Paul Lambert will be hoping for much of the same from his players when the champions come seeking all three points on Sunday.
A win for 11th placed Villa will see them go level with the visitors on 22 points. Striker Christian Benteke has not scored in the League since the 2-1 defeat at home against Newcastle United earlier in September.
United are without a win in their last four Premier League matches and have suffered consecutive defeats at home for the first time since 2002, against Everton and Newcastle. David Moyes's side responded with an unconvincing 1-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk midweek in the Champions League match
The champions lie ninth in the table, 13 points behind leaders Arsenal, who were hammered by Manchester City at the Etihad. United won this fixture 3-2 last season, when Javier Hernandez inspired the visitors to recover from a two-goal deficit.
What Managers Say
Paul Lambert: "It's a massive game, a great game for us to play. The players won't need lifting and they'll be ready for it. The chance to draw level with them on points is a huge incentive. We know we have a chance to win, even though we're up against a good side. It will be a great atmosphere."
David Moyes: "Paul Lambert introduced an awful lot of young players in his first year or so and so it was always a hard task for him. They can make mistakes at times, but he's got through the worst of that and it was a brave decision at a big club with big traditions."
