Where to Watch Live

Halep v Cibulkova will be live on British Eurosport from 12:00am GMT. Regular updates and live scores are also available on the Australian Open official website.

Overview

Halep and Cibulkova will be meeting each other for the fourth time when they clash on Wednesday.

They had met in the round of 64 of the Indian Wells Masters last year when Cibulkova achieved a hard-fought victory against Halep, winning, 7-5, 7-6 (7). Going into the action on Wednesday, the Slovakian holds a 2-1 record against her quarter final opponent.

Halep made her way into the last eight of this tournament after defeating Jelena Jankovic in the fourth round. The Romanian enjoyed straight set wins in the first and third rounds but had to step up a gear to bounce back from a first set defeat in the second round.

Cibulkova, on the other hand, had an easy route until the third round, winning all her games without dropping a set. The 24-year-old then caused an upset in the fourth round, shocking former women's World number one Maria Sharapova. The number 20 lost her first set against the Russian, but recovered strongly to win the match, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The winner of this quarter final match will face the winner of the match between Agnieszka Radwanska and Victoria Azarenka.

What they said

Simona Halep:"It will be a tough match. I played against her before. I know she moves very well, she hits all the balls. I have to be prepared to run a lot and to defend very good because she plays really strong. I have to be aggressive and to enjoy the quarterfinals because is the first time in my life. I just want to be happy there."

Dominika Cibulkova: "I just...I don't want to think about it, you know. I came here to play my best tennis. The thing that changed maybe that I'm playing so well. You know, I'm trying to also enjoy tennis. I love what I'm doing, and I don't want to put too much pressure, because then it's...I don't want to suffer on the court, you know. I love the game and I love to play tennis. I'm very good player, so I don't want to have two opponents, the real one and me. I'm just trying to play against the opponent."
