Police made a gruesome discovery this morning, after body parts, believed to be from an infant, were found in a park near Tooting Bec common in South West London.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that remains of an infant child had been found, and that officers from the Wandsworth Borough are on the scene and inquiries are continuing at this early stage.

A local unnamed resident said: "Police cordoned off both ends of the road through the common, and there were a number of shocked residents looking on." It seemed the body parts were found fairly close to playgrounds in an area popular with young families, where there are tennis courts, pitches and playgrounds.

This grim discovery has shocked local residents and a full investigations is being carried out.
