Gareth Bale

9:40 Bayern Munich's defence of the Champions League has been ended in emphatic fashion at the Allianz Arena as Real Madrid reach their first Champions League final in 12 years where they will be faced with either a Madrid derby or a showdown with their former boss.

FULL TIME

Bayern Munich 0-4 Real Madrid (0-5 on aggregate)

9:35: Ronaldo gets this one right! From the edge of the D he drives a low effort under the feet of the leaping Bayern wall and into the bottom corner with Neuer stranded. It's been a perfect night for Real and Carlo Ancelotti.

Goal! Bayern Munich 0-4 Real Madrid (Cristiano Ronaldo, 89)

9:34: Ronaldo has another chance, this one a bit closer to goal from a free kick after he was caught by the dangling leg of Kroos.

9:33: Bayern's big red wall block the powerful free kick and the home side clear their lines.

9:32: We are into the final five minutes of the 90 and this contest has been over for quite a while. Modric is felled about 30 yards out from goal and Ronaldo is standing over the resulting free kick.

9:29: Real Madrid's last sub Casemiro is on, replacing Angel di Maria.

9:27: Di Maria is suddenly in acres of space down the left again but a poor first touch takes the pace out of his move and settles for a corner. The Argentine swings it in where Gareth Bale is inches from making a connection having slightly mistimed his leap.

9:25: Isco enters the fray with just over ten minutes remaining as Benzema comes off for a well-deserved rest.

9:23: Kroos works a bit of space for himself on the edge of the D and lifts another very decent effort towards the top corner, but there is just too much on it and Casillas watches it fly wide.

9:21: Wonderful skill from Gotze has he pulls Robben's ball out of the air, turns and flicks a shot goal bound in one swift move, but it's over the bar.

9:20: Sergio Ramos is safe for another night. He's being replaced by Raphael Varane.

9:17: Thomas Muller's night is over, he has been replaced by Claudio Pizarro.

9:15: Angel Di Maria is picked out on the left approaching the byline and skips over his man to work a yard of space. He stands up a cross for the back post by Ronaldo's towering leap can only produce an overhit header that sails over the bar.

9:11: Bayern fall asleep in their own area as Coentrao is somehow able to get his foot to the ball and rifle an effort on goal that is only just blocked on it's way through.

9:08: Toni Kroos decides he's had enough of all this meticulous build up stuff and fires one for the top corner from 25 yards out. Casillas has the time to follow it's trajectory and makes a comfortable save.

9:05: Excellent work from Ribery on the edge of the area as he drops a shoulder and steams past Coentrao into the box before arrowing a shot on goal, but Casillas saves fairly comfortably. Much better from Bayern in this half, but they haven't really forced the Real Madrid keeper into action yet.

9:02: Lahm plays the ball in field for Robben who immediately works the ball onto this left and curls a shot on goal around a cluster of players in the way. It's a great effort but it's bent too far of Casillas' post.

8:58: It's patient stuff as Kroos again looks to dictate from the middle looking for an opening. He finds one as Robben breaks down the inside right channel and swings a cross into the box. The ball looks to take a nick off a Real defender as the cross drops on the other side of the box where Alaba is in space, but after turning down the chance to hit it first time his effort on goal is blocked.

8:54: Real Madrid enjoy a comfortable spell of possession with everyone in a white shirt desperate to get in on the act, until Carvajal miscontrols. Bayern resume their passing game but to little effect.

8:50: We are back underway here and Pep Guardiola has taken his lone centre forward Mandzukic off for Javi Martinez. Huh?

HALF TIME

Bayern Munich 0-3 Real Madrid (0-4 on aggregate)

8:35: Two minutes of injury time added on.

8:34: More theatrics as Di Maria is felled as he attempts to bring the ball forward and claims Mandzukic landed an elbow on him. He didn't by the way.

8:32: Ramos clears the resulting corner and appears to receive a daft slap from Ribery in the aftermath. More complaining, etc.

8:30: Robben's cross from the left is well-blocked by Pepe who causes outrage as he hits the deck clutching his head. Bayern are furious as they attempt to pull the Real defender to his feet, they clearly don't fancy being in this unusual position.

8:28: Xabi Alonso is booked and his inexplicable decision to needlessly slide in on Schweinsteiger will see him miss the final.

8:27: Neuer's off his line to clear again but it's sliced wide, this time into the path of Ronaldo. He nearly inflicts further punishment but his long range effort bounces just over the bar!

8:25: God knows what goes through Sergio Ramos' head sometimes. The Spaniard is a booking away from missing the final with his side in control, but bizarrely feels it's appropriate to slide straight through Kroos. It's a foul, but somehow he escapes a yellow card.

8:23: Real carve through again! It's a sublime piece of counter attacking football started by Di Maria who finds Benzema. The Frenchman moves infield and expertly slides a ball through to the onrushing Bale who unselfishly slides across goal for Ronaldo to finish the move from the edge of the area.

Goal! Bayern Munich 0-3 Real Madrid (Cristiano Ronaldo, 33)

8:21: Modric has enjoyed an exceptional start to this game; diligently hounding the opposition and launching counters from deep. He wins the ball and expertly pings another forward to Di Maria who wins a corner. Ronaldo is on the end of it but it's cleared.

8:19: Robben and Alaba neatly combine but the latter's cross is a disappointing one that evades his slightly miffed teammates who have piled into the box.

8:15: Real are nearly in for a third! Firmly in counter attack mode now, Ronaldo is fed the ball on the edge of the centre circle and drives forward with Bale bursting ahead to his left. The Portuguese goes it alone however, cutting across goal before hitting a low effort on goal that rolls wide of Neuer's post.

8:13: Clever, patient build up from Bayern as they probe in front of goal with Toni Kroos searching for an opening. He switches the ball to Lahm who opts to slide in Robben but his low drive across goal flies wide.

8:11: Bayern need to address this sharpish. They string together their first response down the left through Robben but Casillas is out confidently to collect his cross.

8:09: It's two! Di Maria swings in the free kick from the right that Pepe meets, nodding the ball onto his centre half partner who slams into the back of the net! Another fantastic set piece from the visitors, but both Dante and Mandzukic were guilty of failing to follow their men.

Goal! Bayern Munich 0-2 Real Madrid (Sergio Ramos, 19)

8:08: Bayern are getting a bit miffed with the referee here; this time Toni Kroos is penalised for clipping Gareth Bale about 30 yards out from goal.

8:07: Dante is booked for a late challenge on Ronaldo as Real came at them again. It looked a rather ugly one, and the yellow card is justified.

8:05: Real Madrid have taken the lead! No need for counter attacks, a pin point corner into the six yard area is firmly met by Ramos who slams an excellent header past Neuer. They lead 2-0 on aggregate and Bayern now must score three!

Goal! Bayern Munich 0-1 Real Madrid (Sergio Ramos, 15)

8:02: Real again threaten through a swift counter that's started off by a wonderful flick by Ronaldo into the path of Di Maria. The Argentine goes long with Benzema racing to get on the end of it but it's just out of his reach.

7:58: Neuer nearly caught out! Di Maria's cross field pass catches Bayern's high line out with Benzema racing onto it but the Bayern 'keeper is there first. He makes a mess of his clearance though and the ball falls invitingly to Bale over 30 yards out with an open goal in front of him! The Welshman steadies himself but lifts his shot over the bar. Let off for Neuer.

7:56: Bale drifts infield slightly and finds Carvajal's overlapping run. The full back isn't moving at any great pace but his low cross finds its way into the penalty area where Boetang rather nervously boots clear. They soon have the ball back and Neuer shows his centre half how it's done and clears to a teammate on the half way line.

7:54: Benzema attempts to sneak his way inbetween Boetang and Dante but the Frenchman is a couple of yards offside.

7:52: Alaba cuts back on the left and drives an inswinger into the box that Ramos heads away. It falls to Muller but his cross is overhit and Carvajal hoofs to safety.

7:49: Franck Ribery embarks on an early run down the left flank before looking infield for Toni Kroos. The midfielder looks to switch player to Robben but the ball is hoofed clear by Ramos. Di Maria attempts an enterprising run of his own down his flank but Neuer is out quickly to collect his low cross.

7:47: And Real Madrid get us started at the Allianz Arena.

7:44: And we are about to get underway; can Real Madrid book a place in their first Champions League final in 12 years?

7:40: Carlo Ancelotti's side proved just how lethal they can be on the counter attack in Madrid last week and Gareth Bale sees his side taking a similar approach this evening.

There will be stages when we will have to defend very well. Every player will work 100% whether in attack or in defence."

7:28: Ahead of his side's semi-final second leg clash tomorrow Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the press and has confirmed that John Terry will start.

His partnership with Cahill is fantastic, he deserves more than the CL has given him up until now. He starts tomorrow.

7:14: A couple of stats for you; history suggests we can expect Real Madrid to score tonight but a home defeat for the hosts is unlikely.

7:06: After the biggest games in Real's calendar passed him by earlier this season, the Gareth Bale's sensational last minute winner against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final last month firmly ensured he is not out of place among the world's elite. Having been given time to recuperate from illness the Welshman has the chance to do it again tonight and propel his side into the Champions League final.

7:02: As expected both sides are at full strength tonight. Pep Guardiola opted to rest skipper Philipp Lahm and Arjen Robben in their weekend victory over Werder Bremen returns to the starting line up after illness limited him to a role off the bench in the first leg.

Bayern XI: Neuer; Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Alaba; Robben, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Muller, Ribery; Mandzukic.

BREAKING: Both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo start for Real Madrid.

6:47: Karim Benzema's goal separates these two sides at the half way point in this semi-final after Bayern. The holders enjoyed a staggering 72 percent of possession over 90 minutes at the Bernabeu but could do little to stop an exhilarating counter attack led by Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrao that gave them their goal advantage. Can Pep Guardiola's side break them down on their own turf?
