A 20 year old man was killed after getting brutally stabbed on Tuesday, 3 March, at Bridge Road in Alum Rock.

Chaos rocked Bridge Road in Alum Rock on Tuesday, 3 February, caused by an unidentified 32-year-old assailant. The disturbance resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man while also leaving a woman injured.

The Birmingham stabbing incident happened near a primary school shortly after noon on Tuesday, Sky News reported. Because of the disturbance, a nearby nursery school was forced into lockdown.

Details of Stabbing Incident

It was around 12:00 GMT when emergency responders arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a man being seriously injured. Police arrested a 32-year-old man who was linked to the incident and remains in custody as of this writing.

According to witnesses, the 20-year-old was being brutally attacked in the street. Thankfully, there was a good Samaritan who allegedly drove towards the attacker in an attempt to stop the assault.

'I parked my van and jumped out to help him. I don't care what colour or religion you are, you help people,' the unnamed do-gooder shared with Wales Online. 'I used my van to try to get him, but he kept coming. In the end I jumped the fence to save myself and he ran inside.'

Police later declared that it was a contained incident and not terror-related. However, a murder investigation into the incident has been launched.

Cops Seeking More Evidence

In an effort to determine the origins of the stabbing incident, police are reviewing CCTV footage recorded in the area. Aside from that, authorities are talking to people around the area to help gather more information on the unfortunate incident, BBC News reported.

'We are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to a number of people in the area, but would appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch,' Detective Superintendent James Munro said in a statement.'

'We understand how deeply distressing and concerning this incident is, and we will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community,' he added.

The incident left many in shock. In fact one unnamed resident claims that it was rare to experience this kind of disturbance in the area.

'I'm so scared to walk alone on the streets,' the unnamed woman said to BBC. 'This is the first time I've heard news like this and I'm scared,' she added.

Area Councillor Issues Warning

Police continue to gather as much evidence as they can to determine how things went down. Videos are likely one of the media that will be posted and shared online.

Area Councillor Mariam Khan admits that this would be helpful. However, she reminded the public to be responsible and refrain from sharing unverified videos.

'Incidents like this cause real distress across our community,' Khan said. 'Please do not share unverified videos and, if anyone has any information, please contact the police on 101,' she added in a report by Birmingham Live.

Birmingham ranks third in stabbing incidents in the United Kingdom with 3,215 incidents annually. London tops the list with 14,577 annual knife crimes while Manchester is a distant second with 3,842 annually according to the Office for National Statistics.
