Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan is reportedly being tracked by Manchester United. The 23-year-old Uruguayan has been linked with a move to Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window and has reportedly been watched by scouts representing the club.

United were said to be one of a number of clubs who sent scouts to watch Rolan play against on Nantes at the weekend. The highly-rated forward was also watched by Bayern Munich, Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion scouts, according to RMC.

The rumours come after Rolan's countryman Diego Forlan underlined his loyalty to his former club. "I had offers to play in England this summer and last. The only team I will play for in England is Manchester United," he told The National.

Forlan joked he could act as a stand-in if United's star-studded list of forward's became unavailable. He revealed, too, that he would love to score for United against their arch rivals Liverpool.

"If Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford all were out of the picture, I would be happy to go on an emergency loan and help out United," he said. "Maybe play at Liverpool away, score a goal or two and then make way when the injured come back."

United boss Jose Mourinho, for his part, recently insisted he is happy with his squad and said he has no ambition to make any further editions.
