The production team behind the Netflix period drama Bridgerton has addressed questions regarding the long-term casting of the show's youngest characters. As the series prepares for future instalments, the focus has turned to how the programme will manage the transition of child actors into adult roles.

Speculation regarding the potential recasting of Hyacinth and Gregory Bridgerton followed the previous replacement of the character Francesca Bridgerton. In that instance, actress Hannah Dodd replaced Ruby Stokes due to scheduling conflicts prior to the character's lead season.

However, recent statements from the production's creative team suggest that a similar change is not currently planned for the remaining siblings. As of March 2026, the current performers remain attached to the project while the show continues its established filming cycle.

Author Addresses Casting Continuity

Julia Quinn, the author of the novels upon which the series is based, has commented on the ageing of the cast in an interview with Us Weekly. Quinn stated that the natural passage of time between filming cycles allows the younger actors to mature alongside their characters.

'It takes a few years to film; by the time we get to Hyacinth and Gregory, the actors are going to be well into their 20s,' Quinn stated. She noted that the current pace of television production potentially allows the same performers to lead their respective seasons in the future.

Quinn also remarked that audiences frequently observe child stars maturing on long-running programmes. She suggested that maintaining the same performers could provide continuity for viewers who have followed the series since its inception in 2020.

Production Schedules and Actor Demographics

The current ages of the performers, Florence Hunt and Will Tilston, are consistent with the ages of previous lead actors at the start of the series. Hunt, who portrays Hyacinth, and Tilston, who plays Gregory, both turned 19 in early 2026.

This matches the age of Phoebe Dynevor when she first began filming the role of Daphne Bridgerton for the first season. According to reports from Business Insider, the production timeline supports the actors reaching their mid-20s by the time their characters reach their primary narrative arcs.

With Season 4 having concluded in February 2026, the narratives for Eloise and Francesca are expected to take precedence in the coming years. A season focused on Hyacinth is estimated to be several years away, at which point Hunt will be of a similar age to previous Regency-era lead characters.

Creative Decisions and Official Stance

The final authority on casting rests with the production companies, Netflix and Shondaland. The previous decision to recast Francesca was attributed to a combination of actor availability and a shift in the character's creative direction.

As of March 2026, Netflix has not issued any casting calls or announcements suggesting a search for new actors for the roles of Hyacinth or Gregory. The official stance from the production team continues to support the current ensemble as the series progresses toward later chapters.

The UK production of Season 5 is expected to begin in spring 2026. While the show has established a precedent for recasting when necessary, the physical growth of the current younger cast has so far remained aligned with the show's internal timeline.
