Aespa's Giselle Under Fire Over Shirt Featuring 'Night Stalker' Richard Ramirez Who Killed Multiple Victims

Aespa's Giselle has come under fire online after social media users highlighted an image allegedly showing the K-pop star wearing a shirt featuring Richard Ramirez, the convicted serial killer known as the Night Stalker.

The controversy has grown beyond the shirt, with users also pointing to Instagram images containing toy guns, blood-like imagery and other violent themes, prompting questions about the singer's choice of visuals.

Richard Ramirez Was Convicted of 13 Murders

Richard Ramirez was one of the most notorious American criminals of the 1980s. The California man became known as the Night Stalker after a series of attacks across Southern California in 1985.

In 1989, a Los Angeles County jury convicted Ramirez of 13 murders and 30 other felonies following a lengthy trial. The case included charges involving burglary, attempted murder and sexual offences. He was subsequently sentenced to death.

The severity of Ramirez's crimes is central to the reaction surrounding the image attributed to Giselle. Rather than depicting a fictional villain or character from a horror film, the shirt reportedly references a real person convicted of multiple murders.

One social media user questioned the situation bluntly, writing, 'how did their fans hide this', while another described the imagery as 'edgy' and argued that it should stop.

Fans Question the Guns and Bloody Imagery

The Ramirez shirt is not the only image being discussed. Posts circulating across social media have also drawn attention to photographs involving toy guns, firearms-related imagery and visuals that appear to reference blood or violence.

A recent report from Japanese media outlet Sports Seoul similarly noted that Giselle's Instagram had become a subject of discussion because of repeated images involving guns, knives, blood-related imagery and people connected to real-world crimes.

The combination has led some users to describe the posts as part of a broader pattern rather than isolated photographs.

Bunklr, an account discussing the controversy, claimed Giselle was 'obsessed with firearms' and described the posts as references to violence. Those statements are social media allegations and do not establish Giselle's intentions or personal beliefs.

Another user wrote, 'Now combine this with these and u will see a f**** obsession and a f**** up one', referring to several images being circulated together.

Some Users Say the Images Are Being Misread

Not everyone agreed with the criticism. Several fans argued that the photographs could reflect an alternative or deliberately provocative aesthetic rather than admiration for criminals.

One fan account wrote, 'yall want alt aesthetic in the kpop scene but can't even handle a toy gun', while another argued that people were 'overestimating how many people actually know about the richard ramirez situation'.

Other users pointed out that violent imagery and notorious criminals have frequently appeared in fashion, music and popular culture without necessarily representing support for the people depicted.

A separate post also challenged the interpretation of one image, claiming that what some users believed to be blood was actually part of a photo involving Giselle and fellow aespa member Ningning.
