Bryan Cranston is set to play Zordon in the upcoming Power Rangers movie. According to Cranston, his character in the movie bears resemblance to the original show character, who had been trapped in a time warp by the villainous Rita Repulsa [played by Elizabeth Banks in the new movie].

The Breaking Bad actor told ET Online: "The tenant of that storyline is that this is a real person who is trapped in this ether world and it becomes this in-the-wall so to speak of [the command centre]. He still has a heart and mind, but an agenda that he's got to get these five Power Rangers to defend the earth or else everyone they know will be killed."

The actor teased that his performance in the movie involves motion capture and "a lot of CGI-work". Zordon first appeared on the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, in 1993 and appeared in subsequent seasons later as mentor of the five Power Rangers.

Lionsgate recently released the first poster for the film, which only showed silhouettes of the five teenagers with a message: "Together we are more." The Power Rangers reboot follows five ordinary high school children who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove, and the world, is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat.

Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The Lionsgate/Saban movie stars singer Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy. Elizabeth Banks will take on the role of Power Rangers villain Rita Repulsa.
