Brazil's Amazon rainforest has been burning for the past few three weeks. Korean K-pop band BTS' fans have decided to break their silence and help solve this problem. They have launched a campaign under the hashtag "ARMYHelpThePlanet" to stop deforestation and forest fires.

According to a report by Metro, there have been 9,507 new forest fires across the country in the past four days. This is a huge surge in deforestation and it is wreaking havoc to the environment. The BTS fan base, Army, is trying to gather support from as many as fans as possible to help raise awareness.

In a long post, they mentioned that they wanted the fans to choose an organization which will work along with the indigenous people and local government to protect against deforestation, mining, and logging. They also asked followers to check their account a day before JK's birthday for more updates.

CNN reported that there were nearly 72,843 fires in Brazil this year. That's more than 80% compared to last year's records. The Amazon produces nearly 20% of the oxygen in Earth's atmosphere. This catastrophe is a form of slow global warming and might slowly kill the flora and fauna of the Earth.

Social media was flooded with images of the spreading fire in the Amazon rainforest. It has been shared by many celebrities who have expressed their concern over the callousness of human beings. The black smoke has engulfed the largest city of Brazil, Sao Paulo.

The European Union's satellite program, Copernicus, released an image showing that the smoke from the fire is spreading from Brazil to the Atlantic coast. It is even spreading to the nearby countries of Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay.

Various environmental groups have campaigned severely to save the Amazon rainforest. They have even blamed the Brazilian President for relaxing environmental rules and paving an easy way for deforestation. Army's initiative is being praised by many and they are hoping to garner huge public support for their campaign.
