A nurse with a sexual fetish for cannibalism has been found guilty of planning to kill and eat a 14-year-old girl.

Canterbury Crown Court heard married father-of-three, Dale Bolinger, groomed a Mexican girl 'Eva Gonza' living in Germany on a fetish website.

The idea of us making love and then eating you is a VERY great turn on!

The jury was told the 58 year old had also bought an axe from Homebase in Broadstairs, Kent, the day before he planned to meet the schoolgirl at Ashford International Station. The girl never arrived and Bolinger went home.

Bollinger, who was a nurse at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, told the girl in one online chat: "The idea of us making love and then eating you is a VERY great turn on!

"I have been called a very generous lover and I would be very generous to you before I prepped you for the table."

He was arrested after an FBI investigation traced his email address to Dark Fetish Network (DFN), where he bragged about his plans to other users, prosecutor Martin Yale told the trial. He also discussed eating children while their mothers watched and cooking and eating a pregnant woman and her foetus.

Bolinger told police that he believed the girl was probably a man in his thirties "surrounded by pizza boxes" and denied he would ever actually decapitate someone in real life.

Paul Jarvis, defending, told jurors: "We say that when you look at all the evidence, it's quite clear that Mr Bolinger is far more Walter Mitty than Hannibal Lecter.

"He is a fantasist and sometimes he goes too far and sometimes he stops, and sometimes ‒ when the person encourages him ‒ the fantasy continues."

But it took jurors three hours of deliberation to convict Dale Bolinger of attempting to meet a girl under the age of 16 following sexual grooming.

Judge Adele Williams adjourned sentencing to 19 September while psychiatric and pre-sentence reports are prepared to "assess the level of risk the defendant poses to the public".

Before the trial, Bolinger also admitted to administering a poison or noxious substance after he put a cloth soaked in dry cleaning fluid over a woman's mouth in July 2010 and he pleaded guilty to one count of making indecent pseudo photographs of children, and seven counts of publishing an obscene article.
