Celebrity Big Brother has officially returned to our screens for another unpredictable series.

Among the line-up of celebrity hopefuls who entered the Big Brother house was camp X Factor reject Rylan.

After making it to the semi-final of last year's X Factor (much to Gary Barlow's distain) the Essex lad seems to be after another fix of reality TV.

He was joined by Italian-born jockey Frankie Dettori, Simon Cowell's model ex Paula Hamilton and actresses Gillian Taylforth and Tricia Penrose.

Also appearing was Steps singer Claire Richards, former footballer Neil 'Razor' Ruddock, actor-turned Coronation Street actor Sam Robertson and Page three model Lacey Banghard.

Neighbours star Ryan Maloney travelled the furthest to appear on the show. The Aussies actor, who has played Jarrod Toadfish Rebecchi in the soap since 1995, made sure he wrapped up before entering the house.

Reality show married couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who will be treated as one housemate throughout their time on the show, rounded up the 12 contestants.

The show kicked off with a bang when Dettori and Clark were given the first task of the series minutes after entering the house. The duo had to choose which housemates would go with them into the "luxury" house - and which ones would live in the basement downstairs.

The unlucky basement housemates will now have no hot running water, no alcohol, no access to their suitcases, and only basic rations.

Former contestant Brian Dowling returned to host the show, which is in its third year on Channel 5 after being dropped by Channel 4.

While you decide who you will be backing this time around, let's meet the contestants...
