Oscar
Oscar says Jose Mourinho wanted him before his time at Chelsea.

Brazilian midfielder Oscar has revealed how Jose Mourinho tried to sign him for Real Madrid just one month before he completed a move to Chelsea.

Oscar signed for Chelsea from Internacional in the summer of 2012 amid interest from a number of clubs and he has since become a firm favourite under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old has appeared on 16 occasions already this season, scoring five goals and often being preferred to Juan Mata who last season was deemed Chelsea's most important player.

Now Oscar has revealed that he was wanted by Mourinho at Madrid and is pleased to be able to work with the manager in west London.

He told Brazilian website Globoesporte: "A month before signing for Chelsea I was very close to doing so with Real Madrid. Mourinho said he wanted me.

"They came to watch me in a couple of games but they had the playmaker position well covered and I signed for Chelsea."

Oscar also insisted that Mourinho has been an amazing coach, giving him the confidence to develop his skills even further.

He said: "Upon his arrival at Chelsea, he spoke to me. He gives me confidence and I'm trying to repay all such support on the pitch."

Oscar is currently with the Brazil squad and will be looking to continue his wonderful form with Chelsea to make sure that he will be selected for the World Cup next year in his home country.
