England and France are making final preparations before they meet in their opening match of the Women's World Cup in Moncton, Canada, on 9 June.

England, led by coach Mark Sampson, come into the World Cup on the back of a fine qualifying campaign having conceded just one goal in 10 matches, but recent defeats in friendly matches to Germany, the US and Canada have set the squad back.

Sampson will be looking towards captain Steph Houghton to lead the team beyond the quarter-finals for the first time. England have been knocked out at that stage at the past two World Cups.

France, the seeded team in Group F, are led by coach Philippe Bergeroo and will be looking to improve on their fourth place in 2011.

Colombia and Mexico are the other two teams in Group F and they play their opening match on the artificial surface at the Moncton Stadium immediately after the England-France match. The top two teams, along with the four best third-placed teams from the six groups, progress to the quarter-finals.

England and France kick off at 5.00pm on Tuesday 9 June.
