A two-year-old Chinese girl had a close encounter with death as she fell from the window of her fifth-floor home in east China's Zhejiang Province on Thursday.

The child, Qiqi, is believed to have been wandering around in a disoriented state after waking up from a nap, when she found her way to the window sill. It is believed she was alone at home at the time.

The toddler almost plunged to her death. Fortunately, she was saved by a group of men standing on the ground, who noticed her at the window only seconds before she fell.

The five men, who have been identified as express mail carriers, were on a break at about 11am local time.

The men first heard the little girl crying, sitting on the fifth-floor window ledge. Instinctively, they stood right below the window and before they could discuss anything or climb up to save her, the girl fell. While saving the girl, two of the five men sustained injuries to their necks and arms.

"I didn't think much, I just went up to save her when the child dropped," Lou Guobing, one of the men who injured his neck, was quoted as saying by Mail Online.

The men stood together close to each other in an attempt to catch the child and were able to cushion the fall. Although the child did hit the ground, she escaped with only a minor bruise on her face.

At the time of the incident, the girl's parents had reportedly gone out to buy some medicines, leaving their sleeping daughter at home. They had not expected the child to wake up so soon.

"She fell asleep in my wife's arms. Then we went to the nearby pharmacy. It was such a short while, as I said we'd return quickly," Xue, Qiqi's father said.

The whole incident was recorded on CCTV cameras and has been released. Check out the video here:
