Overview

Ghana are coming to the 2014 World Cup touted as the best African team. They will be looking to improve or at least match their run to the quarter-finals last time around in South Africa.

However, James Kwesi Appiah who is the first black coach to achieve World Cup qualification for Ghana, will have a tough task after being placed in what is surely the toughest group of the tournament.

The USA team are coming into the tournament with a few wins in the bag and will hope to create some upsets in a group that has Germany and Portugal. The game against Ghana will be vital if they are to have any chance of making the last 16.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klinsmann will hope the USA can beat Ghana after losing to them in the 2006 and 2010 editions. His decision to leave star man Landon Donovan behind for younger players will be questioned if the USA fails to perform well.

What Managers Say

Asamoah Gyan (Ghana Captain): "It's going to make the game more difficult. They are coming for revenge. Mentally, they don't want to lose to us for the third time. It's going to make it very interesting and difficult for us. But we're ready to go out and give our all tomorrow."

Jurgen Klinsmann (USA): "You have to be realistic. Every year we are getting stronger. We don't look at ourselves as underdogs. We are not. We are going to take the game to Ghana and they will take it to us and it will be an exciting game and then we go from there."
