Hoardes of Fifty Shades of Grey fans will be disappointed to hear that the full trailer for the bestselling book's film version will not be aired on TV.

The first official movie trailer is set to debut on NBC's "Today" show this week, but the network will only be airing a short teaser as its risqué content has been deemed too sexy for day-time viewing.

"Today will broadcast a portion of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie trailer this Thursday, July 24," NBC said in a press release. The network went on to call the film's trailer, based on the bestselling E.L. James romance novel of the same title, "too-hot-for-morning-TV".

However, fans will be relieved to hear that NBC has confirmed that the full trailer will be released on Today.com immediately after its television premiere.

The footage's broadcast will be immediately followed by actors Jamie Dornan, (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson's (Anastasia Steele) first live TV interview for the film conducted by the Today show's Savannah Guthrie.

The network will continue its Fifty Shades coverage by revealing the film set in an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour and interviews with the film cast and the series author, E.L. James.

Beyonce, who is rumoured to have recorded a track for the movie, recently released a teaser of the trailer on her Instagram page. James, 51, later issued a widescreen version of the steamy footage.

Fans were delighted when an audio recording of the first "Fifty Shades" became avilable online, the ad showcasing Mr Grey, (Dornan) who is Irish, speaking with an American accent for the first time. "I'm incapable of leaving you now," Dornan, 32, can be heard saying on the clip, his on-screen lover, Johnson, 24, responding, "Then don't."

The film is based on the Fifty Shades of Grey novel which follows the tale of fictional billionaire, Christian Grey, a man with an affinity for practicing BDSM and his lover, Anastasia "Ana" Steele. The film, said to be aiming for an R-rating is scheduled for release in Febuary 2015.
