According to a leaked document from Samsung R&D, India, the Galaxy S4 was expected to releive Android KitKat update sometime this month. But the manufacturer has not confirmed anything so far.

Sammobile has managed to get the I9505XXUFNA1 Android 4.4.2 test build and tested the leaked firmware version, which works fine and very stable, except for a few minor issues.

The Android 4.4.2 update, as the leaked version suggests, integrates a few UI changes. One among those is the status bar icons being changed from Gingerbread style green to new KitKat style white. Besides, the update brings improvements over performance and higher benchmark scores.

Samsung's Keyboard layout has been improved in landscape orientation, which makes the typing easier with gesture typing working really fine. A camera shortcut has been implemented on the lockscreen. The firmware is for Galaxy S3 users in the European region.

Samsung is expected to roll out Android 4.4.2 for its fourth generation Galaxy S smartphone sometime in February or March.

This looks similar to what Samsung did with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S3 and Note 2, which were running on Android 4.1.2 and never received Android 4.2.2, instead directly upgraded to Android 4.3.

For the Galaxy S4, Samsung is expected to directly upgrade the device to Android 4.4.2 instead of Android 4.4, given the test firmware leak.
