The television presenter says that her recent cancer scare highlighted the importance of regular screenings.

Lisa Snowdon has revealed that she was left shaken after suffering a breast cancer health scare.

The former model and TV presenter, who dated actor George Clooney on and off for five years, said she was terrified after doctors discovered a lump during a routine examination.

"I had my own little scare recently," she said." Because of the history of breast cancer in my family, I went for a routine check a year ago. They found a little something."

Although the growth turned out to be harmless, Snowdon, who is a spokesperson for two cancer charities, admits that she had feared the worst.

She insists that, for her, the experience highlighted the importance of regular screenings.

"It turned out to be a micro-calcification (deposits of calcium in the milk ducts), which is common and nothing dangerous. But it was really good to have had the check and now I go every year," she said.

Snowdon is an ambassador for the Breast Cancer Care charity, The Meningitis trust and Help a Capital Child.
