Ghost of Yotei Legends: Release Date, Classes, And Other Things We Know
Discover new missions, classes, and challenges in Ghost of Yotei Legends update.

Ghost of Yotei Legends is set to expand the game's world beyond its single-player roots, bringing a supernatural co-op experience that builds on what fans loved about the original multiplayer mode.
The upcoming Ghost of Yotei Legends update will introduce new mission structures, class options, and endgame challenges, all designed to keep players returning long after the main story ends.
While the core campaign remains at the heart of the experience, Legends is positioning itself as a major draw for players looking for teamwork-focused content. With its mix of supernatural bosses, layered mission types, and character specialisations, the mode aims to deepen combat while encouraging coordinated play.
Sony has confirmed that Ghost of Yotei Legends will arrive as part of a free update, giving all owners of the base game access to the co-op mode when it launches in March.
Release Date and How to Access Ghost of Yotei Legends
Ghost of Yotei Legends will launch alongside patch 1.5 as a free update for all owners of Ghost of Yotei. The mode is scheduled to arrive on 11 March in some regions, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, with other territories expected to receive it around the same timeframe.
The update will not require a separate purchase, meaning players who already own the game will be able to jump straight into the multiplayer mode once the patch is live. This mirrors the approach taken with the previous Legends mode, which also launched as a free addition.
It's not revealed whether players will be required to have a PlayStation Plus subscription to access the game since it's a multiplayer title.
Mission Types: Survival, Story, and Raid
At launch, Ghost of Yotei Legends will feature three main mission types designed to support different play styles and team sizes.
Survival mode allows up to four players to defend against waves of increasingly difficult enemies across four maps. Teams must control specific locations to activate Blessings, which provide advantages in battle. Losing control of a location triggers a Curse, making encounters more difficult. Each map features its own unique set of Blessings and Curses.
Story missions focus on two-player co-op. There will be 12 missions at launch, grouped into sets of three. Completing each set unlocks an Incursion, a larger four-player assault on a stronghold tied to one of the supernatural Yotei Six.
Each Incursion ends with a boss fight against a giant version of one of the group's members, including the Spider, the Oni, the Kitsune, or the Snake. A Raid is scheduled for release in April, where players will face the Dragon and Lord Saito in a high-difficulty endgame challenge.
Playable Classes and Combat Roles
Ghost of Yotei Legends will launch with four playable classes: Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, and Shinobi. While every class can use a katana and ranged weapons, each specialises in different combat styles and equipment.
The Samurai has access to the widest range of weapons, including the ōdachi, making it a flexible front-line fighter. The Archer focuses on ranged combat and can wield the yari spear while carrying an additional ranged weapon.
The Mercenary uses dual katanas and utility-focused abilities, offering a balanced approach between offence and support. The Shinobi specialises in stealth, using the kusarigama and abilities designed for infiltration and surprise attacks.
Each class will also unlock unique armour cosmetics as players complete feats and progress through the mode.
Loot, Progression, and Social Features
As players level up, they will earn new gear, including Legendary weapons that drop from higher-difficulty missions. These items are designed to support different builds and encourage replay-ability across the various mission types.
Photo Mode will return in Legends, allowing players to capture action shots with their teammates. A new social lobby will also be included, giving players a place to practise combat and archery, play minigames like Zeni Hajiki, or attempt high scores in Bamboo Strike.
With a free release, multiple mission types, and class-based gameplay, Ghost of Yotei Legends is shaping up to be a major addition when it launches in March. It's easily one of the most anticipated games for the PlayStation this year.
