The Google Android 5.1 (Lollipop) operating system update is now available for users of the Karbonn Sparkle V via over-the-air mechanism.
The Karbonn Sparkle V falls under the Google's low-cost Android One smartphones initiative, which is available in the United Kingdom for £121.12 ($180).
This means that Android 5.1 update could soon be released for Karbonn Sparkle V users in the UK as well.
Earlier this month, the update was released for Micromax Canvas A1 users.
According to the FoneArena report, users of the Sparkle V Android One stock smartphone should observe the Android 5.1 via OTA, in the form of a 410MB file. The latest roll-out is expected to be take place in a phased manner, hence the software should take some time to reach all users.
New enhancements brought along by Android 5.1:
- Multiple SIM-card support
- Return of silent mode
- Device protection
- High-definition (HD) voice calling
- Quick Settings menu that lets users join Wi-Fi networks and control paired Bluetooth smartphones directly.
Prior to the roll-out, the Karbonn Sparkle V ran the now legacy Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating platform; out of the box.
Karbonn Sparkle V users can check for the Android 5.1 OTA notification or could search for it manually by navigating to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.
