Will AP McCoy win the Grand National before he bows out of racing? Getty

The Grand National, the highlight of the racing calendar, takes place at Aintree on Saturday 11 April. Who's your money on?

Where to watch

The showpiece event of the three-day gala at Aintree will begin at 4.15pm (GMT). You are likely to find live coverage of the race available in nearly every pub across the land but you can also find it for yourself on Channel 4. And 11 April is the final day to indulge yourself in a flutter, so here is the full schedule for the afternoon, which commences at 1.30pm (GMT) with the Mersey Novices' Hurdle.

Schedule for 11 April

1.30pm: Mersey Novices' Hurdle

2.05pm: Maghull Novices' Chase

2.50pm: Liverpool Hurdle

3.25pm: Betfred TV Handicap Chase

4.15pm: Crabbies Grand National

5.10pm: Aintree Handicap Hurdle

5.40pm: Aintree Mares Open Flat Race

Should Shutthefrontdoor cross the finishing line ahead of the chasing pack, it will be the fairytale sendoff AP McCoy has dreamed of. The wave of sentiment driving McCoy, who will retire at the end of the season, coupled with Shutthefrontdoor's Irish Grand National win in 2014 sees them placed as favourites at 7/1, but there is plenty more on offer.
