Jamie Dornan has finally addressed to the rumours that Ian Somerhalder will shed his vampire teeth and get sensuous to play the ever-charming and seducing Christian Grey in the remaining Fifty Shades of Grey sequels.

The Irish actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his Netflix series The Fall where he dismissed the rumours that the Vampire Diaries actor will replace him in the BDSM-themed movie franchise. Dornan also revealed that the filming for Fifty Shades Darker and Freed is over.

"Supposedly, I heard that Ian Somerhalder is replacing you in that. Do you know anything about that? Is that true?" Kimmel asked Dornan. "That would be really hard for them to do, considering we shot both of the movies. That's an expensive mistake, I'll put it that way. But good luck to him—he'll be great!" he answered.

Upon quizzed about the difference between the fan base of The Fall and that of his upcoming movie, the 34-year-old actor said: "There's a sort of energy in the eyes of a Fifty Shades fan that the fans of The Fall just don't possess. It's like a hunger, and you can sort of see it and smell it. If it's in a pack, it's terrifying."

The erotic movie franchise rose to success with Dornan's sizzling chemistry with Dakota Johnson as the billionaire entrepreneur Christian who is smitten by the naive college student Anastasia Steele.

In the first movie, the couple explored their attraction to each other through plenty of BDSM lovemaking but things went wrong when Christian caned Ana in the Red Room of Pain. In the upcoming movie, the couple explores their love for each other.

The franchise received huge backlash for casting Dornan as the billionaire entrepreneur Grey, who has the fetish for dominance and submissive sex. Multiple fan forums wanted Somerhalder or Charlie Hunnam or Matt Bomer to play the lead.

Directed by James Foley, the next two movies are scheduled to premiere on 10 February 2017 and 9 February 2018 respectively.
