Around 1,000 French citizens have joined IS in Iraq and Syria STRINGER Iraq/Reuters

Islamic State (Isis) has purportedly released a new video threatening to attack Western nations, particularly Spain. The militant group warned that the strike would be far deadlier than the 9/11 attacks in the US or the 2015 Paris attack.

In the latest video, a masked French-speaking IS (Daesh) terrorist, holding a handgun said that Spain would "pay dearly" for having crushed the Muslim rule in ancient Andalusia around 500 years ago. Although the man's face was covered with a beige mask, his blond hair was clearly visible.

According to reports, around 1,000 French citizens have joined IS in Iraq and Syria. Further, the video showed five blindfolded men wearing orange jumpsuits and kneeling on the ground, being shot dead by the terrorist. The video appears to have been made after the Paris attacks, AFP reported.

The video was produced by the IS media office in Iraq's Nineveh province. In the eight-minute video, the French-speaking terrorist called the US-led coalition "imbecile miscreants" and claimed that Western nations will not succeed in destroying the terror group.

US and its allied forces are pounding IS targets in Syria and Iraq. Both France and UK intensified airstrikes against IS targets after the terror group massacred 130 people in Paris.

The IS video released on 30 January appears to have been recorded at a building site, which has now be destroyed in airstrikes.
