Overview

The Knight Riders take on the Hurricanes in the semi-finals of the CL T20 tournament in Hyderabad on Thursday. This is the first appearance for both teams at this stage in the tournament. Hurricanes have impressed in their first CL T20 tournament, where as the Knights are making it this far in their third attempt.

Both teams will be eager to make the finals, where they will face one of Chennai Super Kings or the Kings XI Punjab.

The IPL 7 champions come into this game as the favourites and they will like to continue their unbeaten run in the tournament. The Knight Riders have gone 13 games unbeaten since the start of the IPL this year.

Robin Uthappa has been the star man of the team during their unbeaten run, but has been ably supported by Manish Pandey and Gautham Gambhir in the batting department and the mysterious Sunil Narine in the bowling department.

The Kolkata based outfit has a better read over the conditions in Hyderabad and hence will be favourites, but they have been thrown a googly ahead of the crucial clash after key bowler Narine was called up for suspect bowling action in their previous game.

The West Indian spinner can play the game, but will have to be careful as he will be suspended for the final if he is called up again.

On the other hand, Hurricanes will look to spring a surprise on their opponents and make it a dream debut tournament for the Australian outfit.

The Hurricanes have an experienced squad and on their day can give any team a run for their money. They will depend more on their bowlers with Doug Bollinger, Ben Hilfenhaus and Xavier Doherty among the wickets during the tournament. The experienced pacers will look to make early in-roads as KKR depend heavily on their top order.

When it comes to their batting, Aiden Blizzard has been the star man along with Tim Paine and Ben Dunk. They also have an experienced campaigner in Shoaib Malik, who will be expected to play the anchor's role in the middle order.
