Overview

Lee Chong Wei lost to Wei Nan in the second round in 2015 and he will be hoping to improve his record this time in the tournament. It was a close fixture with a final scoreline of 21-18, 21-19, which went in Nan's favour.

The Malaysian will be facing him once again in the Denmark Open, but this time in the first round of the tournament. Nan is 19th in the world rankings and the Hong Kong shuttler will be hoping to clinch a second win over Lee Chong Wei on Wednesday.

Lee Chong Wei won the silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics after defeating Lin Dan, but lost the final to China's Chen Long. The absence of defending champions Chen Long and Lin Dan will be an advantage for the current World No 1 as it will boost his chances of winning the Denmark Open this year.

However, the Malaysian has to overcome Wei Nan in the first round of the 2016 Denmark Open in order to retain his hopes of winning it for a third time. Lee Chong Wei won it twice in the past, in 2005 and 2012.
