Liverpool have confirmed Andre Wisdom will continue his development at Norwich City with the clubs agreeing a season-long loan deal. Having spent the previous two campaigns at Derby County and West Bromwich Albion respectively, the 22-year-old versatile defender recently committed his future at Anfield by signing a new deal.

But his short-term future has been under scrutiny this transfer window, with Brendan Rodgers signing both Joe Gomez and Nathaniel Clyne in a defensive reshuffle. Following the arrival of the former, club legend Jamie Carragher predicted the exit of Wisdom.

"Starting with Gomez's arrival, especially with him being able to play right-back and centre-back, means there will be question marks now over Andre Wisdom's future. Having been on loan for the last couple of years I'm sure he will want regular football," he said.

Wisdom will indeed move to Carrow Road to secure more playing time. Wisdom becomes the fourth first-team defender to leave the club during the summer transfer window after the Reds sent Javier Manquillo back to Atletico Madrid, Glen Johnson moved to Stoke City as a free-agent and Sebastian Coates joined Sunderland.

"Liverpool FC can confirm that defender Andre Wisdom has completed a season-long loan switch to fellow Barclays Premier League outfit Norwich City," the club confirmed in an official statement. Wisdom, meanwhile, has expressed his delight about the move, hoping to help Alex Neil's side to establish themselves in the top flight following their return to the Premier League.

"I spoke to the manager, and he's told me what he wants from myself and the team collectively. It's going to be good and I can't wait to get started," he said to Norwich TV. "I've maintained a high fitness level because I've been on tour with Liverpool, so I'm coming here fit and ready to go. I'm hoping to help the team by contributing on and off the pitch."
