Liverpool will take on Championship side Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup third round fixture at Anfield on Tuesday evening.

Where to Watch Live

Kick-off is set for 7:45pm BST. Live coverage of the match will be available on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 1 HD.

Overview

Liverpool come into the game after losing the last league match 3-1 to West Ham United away from home. The Reds were 2-0 down just seven minutes into the game as goals from Winston Reid and Diafra Sakho gave the Hammers a two-goal lead.

However, Raheem Sterling put the ball behind the net for Brendan Rodgers' side before the half hour mark. After that, the Reds struggled to break West Ham's defence and conceded another goal in the final quarter of the game.

The defeat is the Merseyside club's second consecutive league defeat and Rodgers would be hoping to set things right with a victory over Middlesbrough on Tuesday. However, the former Swansea boss will have one eye on Saturday's early kick-off as well.

Liverpool face their local rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield in the next league fixture.

Meanwhile, Aitor Karanka's side enter the third round of the Capital One Cup fixture after registering a comfortable 4-0 victory over Brentford at home. Boro are in fine form as they lost only one of their last five matches played in all competitions.

The visitors would be hoping to extend their recent form when they take on Liverpool.

What Managers Say

Brendan Rodgers: "Rickie's been training very, very well. He came in during pre-season and he's been getting himself fit. He played in a lot of the games [during pre-season]. He got himself to a good level of fitness and this will be a game that he will start in."

Aitor Karanka: "I know they aren't in a good way but they have a good manager and good players. We must go there to win, you can't go to enjoy the atmosphere. That is dangerous. Look at Real Madrid, they were very bad two weeks ago then they score eight goals."
