Loic Remy

Loic Remy reveals the reason he chose to move to Chelsea over other interested clubs during the summer transfer window.

The Blues completed the signing of the French striker from Queens Park Rangers a day before the transfer window shut, following the departure of Fernando Torres to AC Milan on a two-year loan deal.

The Frenchman was linked to various clubs over the summer and was close to completing a move to Liverpool, but the move collapsed owing to a failed medical. He was also subject to interest from Arsenal, who tried to hijack his move to Chelsea with a late bid.

However, the 27-year-old striker has revealed that a conversation with Jose Mourinho is what convinced him to join Chelsea ahead of the Gunners.

Remy feels that the Portuguese manager can get the best out of him and understands that he has to perform at a high level to have any chance of displacing current first choice striker Diego Costa from the team.

"I spoke with him (Mourinho)," Remy said, as quoted by the Express.

"He is very clever and he knows exactly what he wants. He has targets for me and I know I have a target for myself as well."

"Everybody wants the best so the discussion was really good. I know he can get the best out of a player and I'm looking forward to working with him," the French international explained.

"We have two great strikers here already [Diego Costa and Didier Drogba] and I don't have a choice if I want to be in the team - I have to play at a very high level," the former Marseille striker added.
