Manchester United defender Jonny Evans is reportedly edging towards the Old Trafford exit door after falling down the pecking order at the club, according to Sky Sports.

Louis van Gaal has stuck to the combination of Daley Blind and Chris Smalling in the absence of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo for the first two games of the season, and the Northern Irishman is unlikely to get regular game time this season.

Evans made just 17 appearances last season owing to a combination of injuries and a six-game ban for a spitting incident involving Papiss Cisse of Newcastle United.

The report claims that Tottenham, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are interested in signing the defender, but Evans is said to want a move to Everton.

The Toffees have been linked with the defender, but Roberto Martinez has distanced himself from a move for the Republic of Ireland international.

The 20-time English champions are also willing to let him leave this summer, and according to ESPN FC, they have offered him to the Merseyside club as part of a player-plus-cash deal to sign John Stones.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the Baggies have reignited their interest in signing Evans after their talks with Tottenham to sign Federico Fazio reportedly broke down.

The report claims that the Red Devils are willing to lower their £10m ($15.6m) valuation, since the defender is now completely out of the first-team picture.

Evans, who has made over 200 appearances after breaking into the first team nine years ago, will become United's 10th permanent departure of the summer if he leaves the club following the exits of Robin van Persie, Nani, Angel Di Maria, Tom Cleverley, Reece James, Saidy Janko, Ben Amos, Tom Thorpe and Rafael.
