Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has revealed that he does not want Manchester United to win the title this season while launching a scathing attack on Luis Suarez for simulation.

Desailly believes that Arsenal and the other teams, who have started the season well, are likely to last the distance and will give the Red Devils a major fight to defend their league title. The Gunners are top of the league following their 2-0 win over Southampton and are four points clear of Liverpool, who are second. United, who are without Sir Alex Ferguson, have dropped seven points behind the leaders after their 2-2 draw with Cardiff City.

"I don't want Manchester United to win it this season. Arsenal have started well and it looks like they, alongside six other teams can last the distance. We will have a clearer picture in March," Desailly said.

He goes on to add that Luis Suarez is not a great striker for his antics on the field, with the player repeatedly cautioned for diving. Desailly compares him to Alan Shearer but believes that the England international is a better bang for the buck that the Uruguayan who has missed a major chunk of his Premier League career through injuries.

"I have a lot of respect for retired England striker Shearer. He is the forward I dreaded to meet during my spell in the Premier League. Shearer was always ready for the occasion and would fight for anything and everything. He was never into theatrics like Suarez. Suarez always thinks the football pitch is a swimming pool," he replied on Suarez.

The former defender also praised Yaya Toure for his impact and backed the Ivorian to win the African Player of the Year award this year.

"Of course, there is a field of very talented players who have been nominated for the award, but definitely Yaya will take this crown. He is not only one of my best players currently, but has also shown a lot of consistency throughout last season and this season and he deserves this award," he concluded.
