Nicolas Gaitan has been courting interest from Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports in Germany, with the playmaker also still reportedly wanted by Manchester United in the summer as he considers his future.

Gaitan has long been connected with a possible move to Old Trafford, and though Sir Alex Ferguson is no longer in charge of the comings and goings at the club, it is still likely that David Moyes will be looking to build on the midfield after Paul Scholes announced his retirement.

Arsenal are also believed to be keeping tabs on the £25 million-rated Argentinian, but now Bild is reporting that Bayer are hoping to bring Gaitan in as a replacement for Andre Schurrle.

Reports claim that Shurrle is very close to making the move to Chelsea, but the club are only going to seal a transfer for the winger if they can find a suitable replacement.

Blues starlet Kevin de Bruyne, who has showcased his skills loan at Werder Bremen this season, was believed to be that replacement, but the youngster now appears close to signing for Borussia Dortmund instead.

And as a result, Bayer have turned their attentions to Gaitan, and will come into the fray alongside a number of clubs for the star.

There was talk that United might want to do a player-plus-cash deal with Anderson, who was somewhat inconsistent this season, but whether the midfielder will figure in Moyes' plans remains to be seen.

Gaitan's agent confirmed last month that a number of clubs are in talks with him over a summer deal, saying: "He would love to play in England, but Spain and Italy also speak to him."

And now that Bayer are in the market too, the former Boca Juniors youth player could have his price driven up as the German side look to challenge in the Champions League next season.
