Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remains confident that he can help the Red Devils complete a "statement signing" this summer. The Portuguese tactician replaced Louis van Gaal after the latter was relieved of his duties just days after he guided them to the FA Cup triumph in May.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the former Chelsea manager is looking to bring in four new faces to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window. The 20-time English champions have already landed Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly as the centre-back arrived in England from Villarreal.

Mourinho has prioritised signing a striker, a right winger and a central midfielder. Juventus star Paul Pogba has been a primary target for the United boss and is aware that his side will face tough competition from top clubs across Europe for his signature.

Juventus are willing to sanction the sale of the former United midfielder and have already signed Miralem Pjanic. He is believed to be Pogba's replacement at the Turin club as the Italian champions are aware that they would face a tough challenge in retaining their star player.

The Serie A club are looking for a world-record fee in order to part ways with the France international. A source told the Manchester Evening News that Mourinho remains confident of completing a deal that "will make everyone sit up straight."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

In the striker's position, the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid coach has the services of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney as three first choice players in the squad. The United captain was deployed in the midfield by Van Gaal in a few of the fixtures last season and has been playing in the same position for England in the Euro 2016.

Martial has been deployed on the left side of the wings after the emergence of 18-year-old Rashford. Mourinho wants to strengthen his side's attack and has set his sights on signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer.

He announced his retirement from international football as Sweden's 1-0 defeat to Belgium was Ibrahimovic's final game for his national side. United are heavily linked with the Swedeish striker and Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan as both the players are managed by Mino Raiola. The agent of Ibrahimovic and the midfielder has admitted that he wants both his players to join United.
