With the January transfer window soon opening, Manchester United will be on the lookout for players who can lift spirits at the club, after both their Premier League and European exploits have come off the rails in recent weeks.

A 2-0 loss to Stoke City on Boxing Days means that the Red Devils have failed to win in seven Premier League matches. Speculation continues to surround manager Louis van Gaal as the players he has brought into the club this summer have failed to turn United's fortunes around since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

A chronic lack of pace has been identified as the main reason for the club's troubles this season, with potential targets mentioned including Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez or Southampton's Sadio Mane.

The Red Devils, whilst relatively solid defensively, have struggled for goals. Both Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial have scored only 7 goals each so far this campaign, with van Gaal desperately short of firepower up front so far this season.

So who could be joining United in the next month? IBTimes UK sports reporter Tony Mogan gives his views on who he thinks could be arriving at Old Trafford.
