Mandy Moore is back to making music after a decade of doing full time movie and TV appearances. Her new single, "When I Wasn't Watching," is a product of her collaboration with husband Taylor Goldsmith.

Moore has been hinting at a new album on her Instagram since June. She shared pictures of herself back in the recording studio and some "stay tuned" teasers. After two months of waiting and prolonged excitement, fans can now finally listen to her first song in ten years and watch the music video directed by Lauren Dukoff.

"When I Wasn't Watching" is part of her fourth album, which is up for release early next year on Verve Forecast. Moore collaborated on the song with her husband. Talking about the single, the Dawes frontman said "it's so inspiring" and that he saw his wife "light up as she gets to express herself again as a songwriter and singer in the way she hasn't in a long time."

"Long time" would be an understatement. The last time the 35-year-old actress released a song was in June 2009, which was " Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week" from her sixth album "Amanda Leigh."

"Everyone that is a part of it, we're always just making sure it's something she identifies with. She's our captain, she's steering the ship and that's how it should be. We're really just there at her service and it's been a true joy," Goldsmith told People.

Talking about her return to making music, the "This Is Us" star says that she was hesitant at first because she felt intimidated at "the idea of diving back into music" after such a long time and after she has gone through many personal changes.

However, she finally took the plunge when she realized that only she can make the first move and she made the right decision. As Goldsmith reveals, Moore has definitely grown as a songwriter. She is "so night and day" now "from where she first started as a singer." He adds that working with his wife means so much to him because it also means so much to her.

"I very much feel like I'm at the helm of the ship now, where I'm stepping back into music completely on my own terms. Everything that's happened up until this point has gotten me to where I am today, and I'm so excited to just keep moving forward," Moore continued.
