Nancy Guthrie Update: Suspect Possibly Stalked 84YO for Weeks Prior to Disappearance
Neighbour's observations may reveal stalking prior to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

The search for Nancy Guthrie is now in its fourth week, and anxiety in her quiet Arizona community is deepening with each passing day. Now, emerging eyewitness accounts and ongoing investigative efforts suggest the 84-year-old mother of 'Today' show co-host Savannah Guthrie may have been stalked by her abductor in the weeks leading up to her 1 February disappearance. The latest revelation comes from Nancy's neighbour, who shared her observations with Fox News on Wednesday, 25 February.
Weeks Of Watching: New Clues In Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance
Aldine Meister, who lives in the same affluent Catalina Foothills neighbourhood of Tucson, Arizona, has come forward with additional information on an individual already suspected of abducting Guthrie. According to Meister, she saw a 'suspicious young man' walking in the community about two weeks before Nancy vanished. She described him as being younger than typical locals, wearing a hat pulled low, and not dressed for casual walking. She also commented that the man 'just didn't fit' as someone who would be regularly seen around the neighbourhood.
Meister also added that she had seen the unknown man walking close to an intersection that leads directly to Guthrie's home. However, she had not seen him before or since her initial observation.
A Possible Stalker In A Quiet, Affluent Community
The Catalina Foothills resident further added that she told her husband about the suspicious individual, but did not think much about the encounter at the time. However, she decided to share the information with law enforcement after Guthrie's disappearance was officially made public. She further added that she was certain she saw the unknown man after 11 January, noting that it would have been on 8 January, which was when she had visitors in town.
Although Meister had no photographic or video evidence that would back her claims, the information immediately drew attention due to the lack of other clear leads. It could mean that Guthrie was stalked and eventually targeted by her abductor, who took his time before attacking the 84-year-old woman in early February.
According to the Pima County Sheriff's office, Nancy Guthrie's suspected kidnapping took place on February 1 at approximately 2:30 am.
On 10 February, footage of a masked man tampering with Guthrie's doorbell camera was released by authorities. Taken on the night of her disappearance, the man is shown with a backpack and a gun holster.
The FBI later released more footage that was taken on a different date. Although it still features a masked man, he does not appear to have a backpack or gun holster. However, the numerous videos taken at different times may confirm that Guthrie was being targeted and that her abduction was carefully timed and planned.
Guthrie's adult children, including Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, are understandably eager to see her safe return. The Guthrie children are already offering a $1 million reward for anyone who can provide information that would lead to the discovery of their mother.
Community On Edge: Pushing For Stronger Security
For her part, Meister is pushing for more security within the community. She has pointed out that although her current security system was unable to record the suspect, she is planning to add more surveillance cameras around her home.
