Former Doctor Who Actor Noel Clarke Charged With Six Sexual Offences Over Allegations Involving Five Women

Former 'Doctor Who' actor Noel Clarke has been charged with six sexual offences involving five women, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Metropolitan Police have confirmed. The 50-year-old actor and filmmaker faces two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2007 and 2016. Clarke is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on 21 October 2026.

Noel Clarke Charged With Six Offences

The CPS authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Clarke on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, after detectives submitted a file of evidence to prosecutors.

The investigation began in September 2025, and Clarke was arrested on 25 September 2025, when he was in his 40s, according to the Metropolitan Police. The charges relate to allegations made by five women concerning alleged sexual misconduct between 2007 and 2016.

'Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so,' the CPS said in a statement.

The six charges comprise two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure.

Clarke is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court at 10am on 21 October 2026.

Bethan David, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for London, said prosecutors had established that there was sufficient evidence to bring the case to court and that doing so was in the public interest.

She also stressed that the criminal proceedings were now active and that Clarke has the right to a fair trial. The CPS has urged caution over public discussion of the case, warning that reporting or commentary should not prejudice the proceedings.

Police Support Five Women

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, whose team is leading the investigation, said the women connected to the charges continue to receive support from specially trained officers. Police have also appealed to anyone who believes they may have been a victim of sexual assault to come forward. Officers said trained investigators would handle any information provided sensitively.

The current allegations should be distinguished from wider allegations of sexual misconduct involving Clarke that were reported in 2021. Clarke denied those allegations.

Who Is Noel Clarke?

Clarke is an actor, writer, director and producer who became widely known in British film and television. He played Mickey Smith in 'Doctor Who', appearing alongside Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant during the show's revival.

Clarke's character was initially introduced as Rose Tyler's boyfriend before becoming involved in the Doctor's adventures. He also wrote and starred in the 2006 film 'Kidulthood', which followed a group of teenagers in West London, and subsequently worked on films including 'Adulthood' and 'Brotherhood'.

Clarke's career was significantly affected after the 2021 allegations were reported. BAFTA withdrew his Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award following the allegations, and the actor subsequently pursued legal action against the Guardian over its reporting.

However, the current criminal proceedings concern six specific charges relating to five women, with the alleged offences dating from 2007 to 2016.

For now, Clarke has been charged but not convicted. The case will proceed through the criminal courts, where the charges will be dealt with under the criminal court process. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
