Manchester United's negotiating team are celebrating after they confirmed the signing of England under-21 defender Phil Jones on a five year contract. The exact figure is unknown as it has been widely reported that Blackburn asked for more money during negotiations. According to The Telegraph, Manchester United will pay upwards of £20m in clauses. The Telegraph understands the initial figure to be around £16m. He will join up with his new team mates after the under-21 European Championships.

The Sun claims that Manchester United target Mesut Ozil has turned down a chance to join Manchester United. Ozil who was targeted by United last summer has been offered the chance to join Old Trafford but the German international has declined saying: 'I do not move from Madrid.'
