Manchester United's negotiating team are celebrating after they confirmed the signing of England under-21 defender Phil Jones on a five year contract. The exact figure is unknown as it has been widely reported that Blackburn asked for more money during negotiations. According to The Telegraph, Manchester United will pay upwards of £20m in clauses. The Telegraph understands the initial figure to be around £16m. He will join up with his new team mates after the under-21 European Championships.

The Sun claims that Manchester United target Mesut Ozil has turned down a chance to join Manchester United. Ozil who was targeted by United last summer has been offered the chance to join Old Trafford but the German international has declined saying: 'I do not move from Madrid.'

After the signings of both Phil Jones and Ashley Young, the rumours have turned their attention to personnel who will be leaving Old Trafford. The Mirror claims that Sunderland are on the verge of a £5m deal to bring Irish international Darron Gibson to The Stadium of Light. The Manchester United midfielder has been unable to force his way into the Manchester United first team and has struggled to make an impression when he has played. Black Cat's manager Steve Bruce is said to be happy to pay the asking price for a player he believes will take Sunderland to the next level.

After the capture of Ashley Young, Tuttosport have claimed that Portuguese winger Nani could be on his way out of Old Trafford. The Portuguese winger who won Manchester United's player's player of the year award is said to be seeking clarification over his future at Old Trafford. If Manchester United does decide to let the player leave Tuttosport claim Juventus and Real Madrid will battle for the player's signature. Jose Mourinho is said to want Nani to team up with former team mate Cristiano Ronaldo in a more fluid looking Real Madrid set up next season.

The Sun report that Nemanja Vidic may be the subject of a transfer bid from Italian giants Juventus. They claim that Juventus have been looking into the possibility of signing the Manchester United captain but Vidic has made no signals that he has a desire to leave. The Mirror claim that Manchester United have again lost out to Barcelona, this time in the signing of 16 year old Elliott Kebbie. The Leeds youngster has been training at the European Champions training camp and looks set to put open to paper on a deal in the next few days.
