A 69-year-old man has been arrested as part of Operation Yewtree Getty

Officers from Operation Yewtree have arrested a 69-year-old man in Milton Keynes on suspicion of sex offences.

Metropolitan Police officers questioned the man at a local police station before he was released on bail.

A statement by the force said: "He [the suspect] was taken into custody locally and subsequently bailed to return on a date in August pending further inquiries.

"The individual falls under the strand of the investigation we have termed 'others'."

The term others means other people arising out of the investigation into Jimmy Savile, a Met spokesman said.

Operation Yewtree was launched in 2012 into alleged sexual abuse by disgraced TV and radio personality Jimmy Savile and others.

Today's arrest (13 May) takes the total number of people arrested under Operation Yewtree to 19.
