After months of build-up, the 86th Academy Awards has come and gone.

The Oscars ceremony, touted as the biggest night in Hollywood, prompted much fanfare before during and after Hollywood royalty gathered to eat pizza and vie for the gold statuettes.

Gravity dominated the night with an impressive seven gongs while Steve McQueen's slave epic 12 Years A Slave made it an award season hat-trick by taking home the prestigious Best Picture accolade.

Not only did the night come with emotional winners and gracious losers, it also brought its fair share of colourful responses on social media.
