Outlander, the new British-American television drama series based on Diana Gabaldon's international bestselling novels of the same name, will air its second episode tonight on US TV network Starz.

After a tremendous response to the new series' premiere episode last week, it's clear that the show has already built a massive fan following and viewers are eager to know what happens next.

Here's the synopsis for Outlander Season 1 Episode 2 titled Castle Leoch:

"Claire is introduced to the laird, but suspicions about her grow as she makes a friend of the mysterious Geillis Duncan and the clan discovers her skills at healing."

Starz released two clips for the upcoming episode that give a sneak peek into Claire's adjustment to life in 18th century Scotland - and it looks like her new life is going to involve a lot of lying and violence. Check out the sneak peeks below.

Outlander Season 1 Episode 2 airs on 16 August at 9pm ET (5pm GMT) on Starz.

Meanwhile, much to the delight of the fans, Outlander has been greenlit for a second season, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The popular time-travel romance drama series will return, presumably next year. The second season will be based upon the second of Gabaldon's eight Outlander novels, Dragonfly in Amber.

Starz says viewership of last week's premiere (below) has surpassed 5 million views across all platforms.

"The overwhelming support Outlander has received from the fans, viewers and critics made the decision for us to go ahead with the second book a very easy one," said Starz' CEO Chris Albrecht.

"Diana Gabaldon has given us years of great drama. With an incredible artist such as Ronald D. Moore at the helm and a cast as spectacular as this, we look forward to continue this spell-binding journey with Claire, Jamie, Frank, Brianna, Roger and everybody over the centuries," he added.
