European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid will be vying for the top spot in Group A when they meet at Parc des Princes on 21 October.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 7.45pm BST. The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport Extra.

Overview

Paris Saint-Germain come into this clash on the back of a five-match winning streak which has seen them concede just two goals. Laurent Blanc's side are yet to lose a game this season and have won all but two of their matches in all competitions. The Ligue 1 leaders were knocked out 5-1 on aggregate by Barcelona at the quarter-final stage in last season's Champions League and will hope to do better against Spanish opposition this time around. Goalkeeper Kevin Trapp (hamstring) and defender David Luiz (knee) picked up injuries during the international break and will not feature against Real Madrid.

Visitors Real warmed up for the trip to Paris with a 3-0 win over Levante at the weekend that took them to the top of the La Liga standings. The Spanish giants have not lost their last seven fixtures against French sides, winning five and drawing two.

Gareth Bale picked up a calf injury against Levante and looks set to miss the trip to Parc des Princes. Dani Carvajal, Pepe, Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez are all sidelined but Sergio Ramos (shoulder) and Luka Modric (thigh) could both play.

What managers say

Laurent Blanc: "It's a good result because we won a very difficult match [against Bastia]. Wednesday's match against Real Madrid will be completely different. We'll be playing at home, against one of the best teams in the world, it will be nice. Now we can focus on that match - we're ready."

Rafael Benitez: "With so many players missing [against Levante], to win 3-0 and be up top, and have such good phases of play, is very positive. After the international break, with the players out, there are various good things to take from today. We had seven homegrown players on the bench, Lucas and Jese gave us extra from the bench, and Marcos Llorente did well on his debut."
