BLACKPINK's Lisa Sets October Double Drop: 'Press Play' EP Lands Before Limited PS5 Controller

PlayStation is tying the launch of BLACKPINK star Lisa's new EP 'Press Play' to a limited‑edition $85 (£62) PS5 DualSense controller featuring her signature bangs and eyes on the touchpad, with the EP arriving on 23 October and the controller following on 30 October after pre‑orders open on 2 October.

The collaboration follows PlayStation's 2023 limited‑edition DualSense and PS5 console cover created with basketball star LeBron James, though this release combines the controller with a broader merchandise collection and the rollout of Lisa's new EP. Sony has described the controller as available in highly limited quantities while supplies last.

Lisa said the collaboration gave her an opportunity to add personal details that she hoped fans would connect with.

'Gaming is something I do whenever I have time to relax, so getting to create this collection with PlayStation was very exciting,' she said, adding that she had 'a lot of fun adding in little details that I knew my fans would notice,' because she wanted supporters to have 'something they can connect with.'

Design Details Behind the DualSense Controller

The Chroma Pearl colourway carries Lisa's bangs and eyes across the touchpad, alongside her signature stars and 'LL' lettering, all created in collaboration with the singer. The wider collection extends into two separate merchandise assortments, including apparel, hats, tote bags, keychains, stickers and a matching controller carrying case.

The merchandise range is launching in the US, with a second assortment available from 23 October exclusively through Lisa's official Amazon store and Amazon Music, timed to coincide with 'Press Play'.

The DualSense controller itself will also be sold in selected international markets, including the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Early Reactions to the Announcement

Early replies on PlayStation UK's official announcement post included fans expressing excitement about the design, with one writing 'I need it!' and another responding 'So cute #LISAxPlayStation.' Social‑media responses alone cannot establish how quickly the limited controller will sell out, though Sony has confirmed the run is highly limited while stock lasts.

Lisa also has established gaming‑related connections beyond this release, including her previous global PS5 campaign in 2025 and her role as the featured artist for Fortnite Festival Season 12, which ran from late November 2025 to early February 2026. Her wider career includes her solo album 'Alter Ego' and an acting role in HBO's 'The White Lotus'.

The collaboration arrives as PlayStation navigates other major changes to its business, including Sony's decision to end physical game‑disc production for new PlayStation releases from January 2028.

That move has drawn criticism from some players and reactions within the gaming community, with Sony itself acknowledging receiving 'various opinions' and saying some community members held 'strong views' on the decision.

Separately, Kojima Productions has confirmed a change in its publishing partnership from PlayStation to Xbox for Hideo Kojima's forthcoming title, 'Physint'.

The studio has stated that PlayStation Studios ended its involvement in June, prompting a search for a new partner, though Kojima Productions has cautioned against unsupported speculation about the reasons behind the change.
